I painted this piece en plein air in the bustling craft market of Olhão, Portugal, completing it alla prima in a single sitting. The vibrant blue umbrella immediately caught my eye — it brought a burst of colour to the lively scene and became the focal point of the composition. I wanted to capture the energy, charm, and character of this picturesque setting through expressive brushwork and rich oil paint.
